About ESP Quilts

About My Quilting Journey

I’ve been quilting for over 15 years, ever since I hand-pieced and hand-quilted my first baby quilt. To be honest, I was a little intimidated by the sewing machine—there was just so much to learn, and it all felt like it was moving too fast. So, I took a slower, more methodical approach with hand sewing. It took time—and a lot of trial and error—but I was determined to figure it out.

Though it took a while, the sense of accomplishment when that first quilt was finished was worth every minute. And from that moment on, I was hooked. I continued hand sewing and eventually learned how to use a sewing machine, which definitely sped up the process!

What Inspires My Quilting

Throughout my quilting journey, I’ve been inspired by three key themes:

  1. The Intersection of Beauty & Function
One of the things I love most about quilting is how it brings together art and utility. Quilts aren’t just beautiful to look at—they’re meant to be used, to keep us warm, and to tell a story. I find it fascinating that something can be both a work of art and a functional piece in our everyday lives. To me, that’s the magic of quilting.

  2. Magical Creativity
There’s something truly magical about the creative process. I believe that all art is a form of magic, a flow of inspiration that moves through us when we let it. Creativity isn’t always a grand, otherworldly event—it’s something we can tap into when we allow ourselves to create from the heart. There’s love and energy woven into every stitch, and that energy can transform not only the fabric but also ourselves. When we step into this flow, even the most challenging moments of quilting can feel like pure magic.

  3. Freedom within Structure
I’ve always found a sense of freedom within structure. Just like a riverbed shapes the flow of water, the structure of quilting allows for creativity to flow in infinite directions. While there are only so many geometric shapes to work with, the combinations we can create are limitless. This balance between structure and freedom is what makes quilting so exciting—it’s a creative playground that’s both guided and open to endless possibilities.

What I Hope to Share

With ESP Quilts, my hope is to share my creative journey and the joy of quilting with others. I want to inspire and collaborate with fellow quilters, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been quilting for years. Let’s embrace the flow of creativity, make something beautiful, and most of all—have fun along the way!

Here’s to many magical quilting adventures for us all!
